JUNIOR YEAR
Dr. Morgan chewed at her fingernail. It was barely morning, the sun just rising, and she had a cup of coffee sitting on the counter in front of her. She had wrapped a silk robe around her, just because it was slightly cold, and left Tess curled up in her bed, fast asleep. She couldn’t sleep, found she could hardly breath with Tess next to her, so she just got up. She was tired, but not exhausted, and in fact felt quite rejuvenated. Last night was… wonderful.
It was troublesome, however, how easily Tess smashed through her walls, walls she had spent decades building up. She let Tess touch her, let the girl taste her, felt her fingers inside her. Tess gave just as good as Dr. Morgan gave, but Dr. Morgan hadn’t let a girl touch her in years. She had grown to a steady touch-me-not top after an unfortunate late-night encounter that left her broken and hating her body. Then, it just became routine. She was there to please the other woman, got her own sense of self fulfilment from hearing them cry and beg out her name, and then when she was alone, she’d take care of her more physical needs herself. And no one ever fought that. The girls she slept with were all selfish bottoms. Some would offer, out of politeness, but when Dr. Morgan told them no, they’d never fight it.
But Tess… Tess was on her before she could think to say no, and the girl, she definitely fought against Dr. Morgan’s protests. And once Tess’s head was nestled between her thighs, she found her discomfort lessened. She had forgotten how nice it was and Tess, Tess was skillful. Dr. Morgan wrapped her hands around her warm coffee cup. She hadn’t cum that many times with another woman in years, maybe ever, not that she was exactly counting.
She heard movement and turned, looking back towards the hallway that led back to the bedroom. Tess sauntered out, looking thoroughly shagged—just what Dr. Morgan liked. The girl’s hair was a mess, but there was an alluring glow to her. She had snatched one of Dr. Morgan’s shirts, just barely long enough to cover her bare ass.
“Morning,” Tess hummed. She walked into the kitchen and glanced out the window, taking in the sunrise before stretching. Dr. Morgan’s eyes fell to the curve of the girl’s buttock and she licked her lips, her mouth suddenly feeling very dry.
Tess turned back to face Dr. Morgan, smirking, and Dr. Morgan cursed herself inwardly. Tess was doing that on purpose, and what was more, it was working. But Dr. Morgan didn’t do relationships of any kind—she barely tolerated friendship—and she was very much and would always be a one-night stand kind of woman. Morning sex was most definitely not part of a one-night stand.
“You got any food around here?” Tess questioned.
“Coffee,” Dr. Morgan answered a bit sarcastically.
“Not food,” Tess declared, taking the liberty to start going through the woman’s cabinets. “Don’t you eat breakfast? It’s the most important meal of the day, you know.”
“Some studies beg to differ.”
“Look, yogurt,” Tess declared, pulling out a container of Greek yogurt from the fridge. She sat it down on the counter. Dr. Morgan fished out a spoon from a nearby drawer and handed it to the girl.
Then, the two stood in silence, one eating and the other sipping coffee.
“I need to take you back to campus,” Dr. Morgan stated as Tess was finishing off the yogurt. “I have a lot of work to get done today, and I’m not about to start letting you infiltrate my house the way you’ve infiltrated my office.”
“Careful,” Tess teased, “I know where you live now, and I do have a car.”
“You need to go change. You aren’t stealing my clothes either.”
“But I wore a dress,” Tess protested. “It’s uncomfortable and I hardly want to put it back on. Let me borrow some clothes, please? I’ll return them to you Monday.”
“And risk having one of my coworkers see that exchange? No thank you.”
“You’re the worst,” Tess answered, but her tone was entirely lighthearted.
She sensed Dr. Morgan’s anxiousness to get the girl out of her house, which Tess had expected, so she went back to the bedroom to change. Alone and with a moment to herself, she took in the house. It was lovely and well decorated, more pristine and proper than lived in, although the clothes and blankets strewn around the bedroom helped in that aspect. Tess’s room was covered floor to ceiling with polaroid pictures of her friends and family, but Dr. Morgan’s room had a much more grown up feeling, with just a single painting hanging above the headboard of the bed.
Tess pulled back on her dress, refusing to put her heels back on, and she made sure to grab her phone, even though it was dead. She wasn’t concerned though. She trusted Dr. Morgan to take care of her, that was why she sent her handbag back with Elle. She was fighting with the zipper of her dress when she felt Dr. Morgan come up behind her, pulling the zipper up with ease, the woman’s hands lingering on her back for a beat longer than necessary.
“I think I rather prefer you unzipping my dress, as opposed to zipping it,” Tess stated, turning slightly.
“You can wait for me in the kitchen,” Dr. Morgan answered. “I need to get dressed.”
Tess watched her for a moment, but then respected her boundaries and trailed out into the kitchen. Not long after, Dr. Morgan returned, dressed as she was on the daily, with dress slacks and a nice sweater. She looked put together and ready for another day of work, whereas Tess looked like a mess. She really wished she had something else to wear.
The car ride back was tense, but entirely different from the tenseness of the car ride to Dr. Morgan’s house. They weren’t so anxious, more so delaying the inevitable. Tess kept stealing glances at Dr. Morgan, nibbling at her lip as the woman seemingly ignored her.
Dr. Morgan slowed and pulled off on the side of the road. Tess looked around, vaguely recognizing where they were. They were several blocks off the edge of campus.
“Well, here you go,” Dr. Morgan stated.
“We’re so far away,” Tess complained. “Can’t you drop me off any closer?”
“And risk someone seeing? Absolutely not.”
Tess pursed her lips slightly but didn’t fight it. It was a bit chilly outside, specifically in her dress without a coat, but it wouldn’t be too miserable to walk. She stayed in the car though, contemplating.
Dr. Morgan tapped her fingers against the dash. “This… this can’t happen again,” she stated, and her tone was forceful, but Tess wasn’t convinced the woman really meant it.
“I had a good time,” Tess answered. “A great time, actually.”
“I only do one-night stands.”
“I understand.”
Dr. Morgan looked over at the girl, a bit skeptical. She expected a bit of a scene, just because Tess hadn’t ever been good at listening to her, but Tess didn’t put up a fight. She had a look of understanding on her face.
She did, however, smirk. “Can I kiss you again?” she questioned.
“Absolutely not,” Dr. Morgan answered.
“If you don’t permit me a final kiss now, I might demand one later.”
Dr. Morgan frowned in slight irritation. She looked out the window of the car, glancing around momentarily before she leaned across the console and captured Tess’s lips. The potentially chaste kiss deepened quickly and when they parted, both ladies were panting. Dr. Morgan thought Tess looked pleading, as if she might put up a fight then.
However, Tess just smiled softly and said, “I’ll see you Monday, Margaret,” before opening the door and slipping out.
“Dr. Morgan,” the woman corrected harshly.
Tess gave her a wink as she slammed the car door shut.
Tess noted that Dr. Morgan didn’t pull away until she was nearly out of sight, her on campus apartment only several more yards away. She was still smirking, very content but also dying for Monday to arrive so she could see the woman again. They might never do such a thing again, if Dr. Morgan held true to her one-night stand rule, but that didn’t mean Tess’s desire to be near her would lessen. There was sure to be heartbreak in her future, but she couldn’t find the need to care when she felt such a healthy ache between her legs, the images of the night before burned into her retinas.
She wasn’t sure what time it was exactly, as her phone was dead and she didn’t own a watch, but there were other students up and about on campus, so it couldn’t be too early. No one paid her any mind, not even in her—well, Kai’s—long evening gown. She arrived at her door and realized she gave her keys to Elle the night before. Sighing, she reached up and banged on the door, hoping Elle was either already awake, or in the very least wouldn’t sleep through her knocking.
Instead, an instant later the door flew open reveling Kai. “Oh my god, you really did it,” she declared.
“Kai?” Tess questioned, stepping past her friend and into the apartment.
“You’re getting that dress cleaned before you give it back to me,” Kai stated accusingly.
“Is that Tess?” Elle shouted from her bedroom. She ran out a second later, still in her pajamas. “I don’t believe it. There’s no way.”
“Look at her neck,” Kai said. “There’s no way she did that to herself.”
Tess felt herself blush and she hurried to the bathroom, inspecting her neck. She was covered in marks. Dr. Morgan wasn’t kidding when she said she liked it rough. Tess tugged at the dress, exposing the top of her chest, which was equally marked, and then, she hiked the skirt up, and noted the red-wine splotches on her inner thighs. She sighed blissfully.
“You look like you got in a car wreck with all those bruises,” Kai observed, standing behind Tess in the bathroom.
“They aren’t bruises, they’re hickies,” Elle answered, also appearing in the doorway of the bathroom. “I can’t believe my roommate slept with the notorious bio-chem professor.”
“I can’t believe it either,” Kai agreed with a smirk. “Did you have a good time? Was she good?”
“Mind blowing,” Tess muttered out breathlessly. “I don’t know how I’m going to survive never experiencing that again.”
“Who said it had to be a one-time thing?” Elle declared with a shrug. “If it’s something Dr. Morgan likes, I’d say go for it. I didn’t know that woman was capable of fun.”
“I’m going to run over to my apartment and grab my makeup kit so we can figure out how you’re going to cover up those dark spots,” Kai stated.
“Who said I’m covering them up?” Tess questioned, running her hands over the tender flesh of her neck.
“I did, unless you want to explain to Dr. Kemper and Dr. Marlow what you got up to this weekend.”
“You’re probably right,” Tess admitted. It didn’t matter if no one else knew, she knew. She knew what Dr. Morgan felt like, what the woman tasted like, and what she sounded like when she tumbled over the edge. And that would be more than enough, was more than enough, more than Tess had ever hoped and dreamed of.
Meanwhile, Dr. Morgan stood before her own mirror, inspecting her own neck as well. “That trickster,” she muttered. “I can’t believe she marked me so thoroughly. This is going to be a bitch to cover.”
“Good morning, Dr. Marlow. Dr. Kemper—” Dr. Morgan nodded towards the women. “Lovely day, isn’t it?”
“Um… yes,” Dr. Marlow answered. Dr. Kemper was too flabbergasted to respond.
Dr. Morgan continued past them, sorting through the items in her mailbox. “Have either of you read the newest edition of Nature?”
“I hadn’t managed to grab a copy yet,” Dr. Marlow commented.
“Here, you can have mine,” she stated, handing the journal over. “I can pick up another copy for myself. Do let me know if you find any articles particularly interesting; I’ll check those out first.”
“Um, alright,” Dr. Marlow muttered.
“See you two around. Have a good week,” Dr. Morgan stated, heading out of the mailroom.
Dr. Kemper turned to Dr. Marlow. “What in the world was that?” she gasped, finally finding her voice.
“I… I don’t know,” Dr. Marlow answered. “I think… was Margaret being nice?”
“Impossible,” Dr. Kemper declared. “Flip through that journal. She probably scribbled insults all over it.”
“It’s clean,” Dr. Marlow replied, humoring her friend and flipping through the pages. “I think Dr. Morgan might have just finally woken up on the right side of the bed… for the first time in over a decade.”
“I wonder what’s got her so happy, and I hope it sticks around,” Dr. Kemper answered.
The two women continued their business in the mailroom, collecting their papers and copies before heading back to Dr. Kemper’s office. It was about thirty minutes before their class began, and as usual, the TA’s gathered to be briefed on the day’s occurrences.
“Good morning!” Kai greeted them, her normal level of excitement evident.
Tess followed Kai's comment up with, “How was your weekend?” Dr. Marlow dove into a story about something one of her daughters did, as she had a very eventful weekend, but Dr. Kemper remained quiet just watching the girl.
Tess was… glowing. That wasn’t the exact right word, but she was more out of her shell than normal, talkative, and giddy, almost. Something had changed; something had happened. The girl kept subconsciously reaching up towards her neck, touching it only lightly, then she’d get lost in herself, grinning. Dr. Kemper watched her closer when they sat down to discuss the in-class worksheet. She noted how there seemed to be a secret between Tess and Kai, the two best friends, and she wondered what possibly could have happened that weekend.
Dr. Marlow asked the girls how their weekend went.
“Tess had a fantastic weekend,” Kai stated, her tone teasing, and then Tess blushed. But before Tess could elaborate to save face, Kai dove into her weekend adventures, which comprised of her helping her boyfriend rescue a lost puppy Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Kemper thought it was an eventful weekend for a lot of people. First, there was Dr. Marlow and her daughters, then Kai and the puppy. There was Dr. Morgan, in her good mood, and Tess, who couldn’t stop smiling. What a peculiar occurrence.
Dr. Morgan wasn’t surprised to see Tess stick her head into the office later that Monday. She pretended she was disinterested, and extra busy—as she always did when Tess interrupted—but Tess hardly cared. The girl fell back onto the couch, sighing, and Dr. Morgan smirked, realizing the girl was still beaming and it was all because of what Dr. Morgan did to her. She felt very proud.
“Dr. Kemper and Dr. Marlow said you were being nice today,” Tess commented. “Are you feeling alright?”
“Very,” Dr. Morgan answered. “Are you?”
“Very,” Tess mimicked. “How’s your neck doing? It’s practically a different color from your face.”
Dr. Morgan instinctively reached up and touched her neck, glancing to Tess with a glare. She noted Tess had also covered up with makeup, and Dr. Morgan fought against to urge to wipe it off, let everyone else know what she had done to girl, verses saving face and remaining secretive.
“Your neck doesn’t look much better,” Dr. Morgan commented.
“Kai did her best. Anyway, I can’t stay long, I just wanted to check up on you.”
“No need. I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself.”
“Of course. I’ll… see you later. I have a particularly busy week, so I don’t know when I’ll be able to slip away.”
“I think I can manage without your presence for a week,” Dr. Morgan declared.
Tess nodded and stood, heading out.
Slowly, the week trickled on. Tess saw Dr. Morgan in passing, several times, and each time she found herself unable to approach the woman. There were sinful things she wanted to do, which she thought might not be wanted, and further, would never be wanted on a school night. So, Tess didn’t approach her. Instead, they locked eyes across the quad, or down the hall, and Tess would always smile, but that was it.
Dr. Morgan’s good mood slowly dwindled. By Wednesday she was back to her normal stressful life and, realizing that she put her foot down to a repeat offense, she knew Tess and she would never come together like that again, which bittered her mood as well. By Thursday, she was back to giving everyone the cold shoulder, and Friday, it was as if nothing had ever changed.
“Well, I reckon the era of ‘happy Dr. Morgan’ has come to a close,” Dr. Kemper stated, walking into her lab office for the TA meeting. “We got nothing productive done at our department meeting again because she was going on being contrary to everything.”
Kai elbowed Tess. “Maybe you should go pay her a visit… brighten her mood again,” she whispered.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Tess muttered.
“Of course you don’t.” Kai smirked, but Tess chose to ignore her.
They continued through their TA meeting. Per usual, they got derailed multiple times as they were all friends and close with the professors. Tess was quiet, though not unusually so, as her thoughts were preoccupied with the sassy brunette goddess down the hall.
Once their meeting was over, a few of the TA’s had to hurry off either to a final class or meeting of the day, or they were just eager to get their weekend started. Tess and Kai—and a couple other TA’s—remained behind talking with Dr. Marlow and Dr. Kemper.
The door was slammed open, causing the entire TA team to jump at the crash of the door smashing against the wall. Dr. Morgan appeared in the doorway practically fuming.
“There’s a horridly obnoxious high-pitched beep coming from your lab, and I suggest you stop it now or else—"
“Shit, the experiment!” Dr. Kemper barked, leaping up. She raced out of the room past Dr. Morgan, the woman still grumbling.
Tess sucked in a deep breath. The fire in Dr. Morgan’s eyes sent a shiver straight down her spine. She couldn’t do this, couldn’t keep doing this. She stood abruptly, stalked to Dr. Morgan and practically snapped, “Your office, right now.” Then she shoved past Dr. Morgan and out into the hall.
Dr. Morgan stood there for a second, taken aback. She looked back into the room, a look of confusion and slight vulnerability on her face which Dr. Marlow picked up on. Dr. Marlow shrugged slightly, equally confused, and beside her, Kai was covering her mouth, trying not to snicker. Dr. Morgan snarled at the girl before she turned and stalked off down the hallway after Tess.
Moments later, Dr. Kemper returned to the office, stating, “That was a close one. What did I miss?”
“Tess demanding Dr. Morgan meet with her and Dr. Morgan… listening?” Dr. Marlow questioned hesitantly.
Dr. Kemper turned and looked at Kai. “What’s going on between those two?” she questioned.
“Ahh, nothing. An inside joke,” Kai answered, shaking her head.
Down the hall, Dr. Morgan shoved open her office door, her eyes flying around the room to find Tess. “How dare you speak to me like that?” she snapped, slamming the door shut behind her. “You have no right talking to me like—”
“I can’t handle this,” Tess stated. She grabbed Dr. Morgan from behind, spun the woman and shoved her back against the door. Then she leaned forward and kissed her, roughly, moaning into Dr. Morgan’s mouth.
A hunger flared in Dr. Morgan and she grabbed Tess by the biceps, spinning them and shoving Tess up against the door. Tess gave into her willingly, knowing the woman’s desire to dominate, and she did her part whimpering. Then Dr. Morgan pulled away and sucked at Tess’s earlobe before she dipped and bit the girl’s neck rather harshly. Tess let out a hiss.
“I don’t do relationships,” Dr. Morgan practically growled. “I only do—”
“One-night stands, I know,” Tess husked out. “But I can’t only do this once and clearly, you can’t either.”
“No.”
“No you can’t only do this once?” Tess stated with a smirk.
That smirk!
“Stop it,” Dr. Morgan practically hissed.
“Stop what?”
“That smirk of yours. It drives me crazy.”
“Oh really? Then good,” Tess challenged, the smirk only further growing. “Because all week you’ve been driving me crazy. Do you have any idea how insanely attractive you are?”
Tess leaned forward to capture Dr. Morgan’s lips again, but the woman pulled back, pressing against Tess’s sternum to stop her.
“No, we are not doing this. Absolutely not,” she stated. “There’s a reason I don’t sleep with the same woman more than once.”
“Please,” Tess whimpered, trying to nuzzle against the other woman. “I need you.”
“You don’t. This is only an influx of chemicals in your brain. In a matter of time they will dissipate and—”
“We’re all just bunches of chemicals,” Tess huffed. “So very bio-chem of you to say that. But chemicals or not, I can’t help the way my body reacts to yours.”
“You’ll get over this little… affixation you seem to have.”
“Not unless you sleep with me again.”
Tess snaked her arms around Dr. Morgan and when she was momentarily distracted, Tess lunged at her, attacking her neck where she sucked—hard.
Dr. Morgan shoved Tess back, holding her back by the neck to shove her against the door. Dr. Morgan was breathing heavily, equally irritated and turned on by the girl’s defiance. Tess withered under Dr. Morgan’s hold. She wasn’t afraid of the other woman, nor was she fearful of how she was being held. Dr. Morgan wasn’t trying to hurt her, just hold her back with a pressure Tess knew was driving them both crazy.
“Margaret, please,” Tess restated. She pushed slightly against the hold and she was released, though the woman kept her against the door. Tess bit her lip, whimpering under the other woman’s stare. She closed her eyes and let out a shaky breath, trying to compose herself.
“You don’t understand what you do to me,” Tess whispered. She opened her eyes, meeting the blown pupils of Dr. Morgan. Slowly, Tess reached out and found the professor’s arm, tracing her fingers down the woman’s arm until she grabbed her wrist.
“The things you do to me,” Tess continued, pulling the woman’s hand closer. “You make me feel things I hardly know how to feel.” The girl cupped Dr. Morgan’s hand in her own tugging it close, running it along her own abdomen until she slipped both of their hands into the waistband of her pants.
Dr. Morgan sharply inhaled when Tess pressed her fingers into dripping wet folds.
“Do you feel that?” Tess questioned huskily. “You make me that wet, Margaret. That’s all for you.”
Tess felt her knees give out from under her when Dr. Morgan suddenly took control, sinking her fingers straight into the girl and pressing forward, capturing her lips so the gasp that left Tess died in their mouths. Dr. Morgan pressed her harder against the door so she wouldn’t fall and rocked into her until Tess thought she could see stars. Then suddenly, Dr. Morgan was gone.
“Stop, don’t complain,” Dr. Morgan snapped. “We’re going back to my place, right now. I simply refuse to take you in my office like some rangy teenagers.”
Tess smirked again, gazing at Dr. Morgan through hooded, lust-filled eyes. “Fuck,” she practically purred. “Come on then. Grab your keys.”
“You’re leaving now.”
Tess forced her eyes open, turning her head to look over at the woman lying beside her. She shot the woman a “seriously?” look, as if challenging Dr. Morgan to kick her out of bed.
“This was already an exception, which is not regularly happening, and so to keep this from becoming a routine, you are not allowed to spend the night,” Dr. Morgan continued.
Tess rolled over, propping herself up on her elbows. She raised an eyebrow. “Who said we were done?” she challenged.
Dr. Morgan pursed her lips. “I seem to remember someone begging me to stop, as you surely couldn’t take anymore, and something about not being able to walk the next day—”
“Yes,” Tess admitted, though she dipped down and cuddled against the other woman. “But… you know… post-coital cuddles are sixty-percent of the lesbian sex experience.”
Dr. Morgan snorted as Tess nuzzled against her neck, wrapping her arms around the older woman as she pulled them flush together. “And where did you happen upon that absurd statistic?” Dr. Morgan questioned.
“Personal experience,” Tess murmured against her neck. “Women tend to prefer a closer, more personal, more intimate experience, which is most definitely aided by cuddling.”
“Some women, perhaps.”
“You’re talking a lot of protest, but I don’t see you fighting me off.”
Dr. Morgan reached down and pinched Tess’s butt check, causing the girl to yelp. She raised her head and glared at the woman. Dr. Morgan rolled her eyes and shook her head slightly, opening her arms more. Tess beamed, adjusting so she could snuggle up close to the other woman. Slowly, Dr. Morgan wrapped her arms around the girl as well.
Maybe there was an argument to be said about such a statistic.
